Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Every eligible watch purchased from Stalder & Reid is covered by our Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions set out below.
Certain watches may instead be covered by an official manufacturer warranty where this is specifically stated on the applicable product page. Manufacturer warranty coverage is governed by the terms provided by the applicable manufacturer.
Your Stalder & Reid warranty begins automatically on the date of purchase. No separate Stalder & Reid warranty registration is required.
This is a voluntary written limited warranty provided in addition to any rights and remedies available to you under applicable federal or state law.

2. Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty
The Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty provides coverage for eligible defects affecting the movement of the watch for five years from the date of purchase.
This warranty applies only to eligible watches purchased directly from Stalder & Reid through stalderandreid.com or another sales channel expressly identified by us as an authorized Stalder & Reid sales channel.
Where the applicable product page expressly states that the watch is covered by a manufacturer warranty instead, the manufacturer warranty identified for that product applies in accordance with the manufacturer's applicable terms.
Each eligible watch is checked before shipment to help ensure that it is supplied in appropriate condition and functioning correctly.
Where applicable, original serial numbers, case numbers, model references, and other identifying markings remain intact.
Each eligible watch purchase also includes a Stalder & Reid warranty card and a signed Stalder & Reid Certificate of Authenticity where these materials are supplied with the applicable order.
3. What the Warranty Covers
Subject to the terms of this warranty, coverage applies to defects or faults affecting the internal movement of the watch during the five-year warranty period.
A potentially covered movement issue may include circumstances in which a watch:
- Abnormally gains time beyond the applicable movement specifications;
- Abnormally loses time beyond the applicable movement specifications;
- Fails to keep time properly because of a covered movement defect;
- Stops functioning because of a covered movement defect; or
- Develops another internal movement-related fault resulting from a covered defect.
Normal timekeeping tolerances vary between movements. Mechanical and automatic watches, in particular, may normally gain or lose some time during ordinary operation. A variation that falls within the applicable manufacturer's or movement's normal operating specification is not considered a defect solely because the watch is not perfectly accurate.
4. Remedy for a Covered Claim
If we determine that a movement fault is covered by this limited warranty, Stalder & Reid will arrange an appropriate warranty remedy.
Depending on the nature of the defect and the circumstances, the remedy may include:
- Repair of the covered movement;
- Repair or replacement of covered movement components;
- Replacement of the movement where appropriate;
- Replacement of the watch where repair is not reasonably practical; or
- Another remedy required by applicable law.
Covered warranty repair work itself will be performed without charge to the customer.
The particular remedy will depend on the nature of the defect, availability of components, feasibility of repair, applicable warranty terms, and any rights or remedies provided by applicable law.
5. What the Warranty Does Not Cover
This limited warranty is specifically a movement warranty. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, it does not cover damage, deterioration, maintenance, or faults arising from matters outside the covered movement defect.
Examples of items and circumstances not covered by this limited warranty include:
- Accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, or improper handling;
- Damage caused by dropping, crushing, impact, collision, or other accidental physical damage;
- Broken, cracked, chipped, or scratched crystals;
- Scratches, dents, marks, discoloration, fading, or other cosmetic damage;
- Damage to the case, bezel, crown, pushers, crystal, dial, hands, clasp, bracelet, strap, or other external components unless directly caused by a covered movement defect;
- Normal wear and tear;
- Normal aging, deterioration, or changes in materials;
- Routine cleaning, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance;
- Damage or deterioration to leather, fabric, rubber, silicone, or other straps;
- Damage caused by chemicals, solvents, detergents, cosmetics, perfumes, or other substances;
- Damage caused by exposure to extreme heat, steam, temperature changes, strong magnetic fields, or environmental conditions inconsistent with applicable manufacturer instructions;
- Damage caused by failure to follow applicable operating, care, maintenance, or manufacturer instructions;
- Damage resulting from unauthorized alteration, modification, dismantling, servicing, or repair where that work caused or contributed to the claimed defect;
- Water damage resulting from use inconsistent with the confirmed water-resistance rating or manufacturer instructions;
- Damage caused by operating a crown, pusher, or other control in a manner inconsistent with the watch's specifications;
- Loss or theft of the watch; or
- Any condition that does not result from a defect covered by this limited movement warranty.
6. Batteries and Other Consumable Components
Batteries used in conventional quartz watches are consumable components and are not covered by the Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty when replacement is required solely because of normal battery depletion.
Other consumable or wear components may similarly require replacement through normal use and are not automatically considered defective.
This exclusion does not eliminate any right you may have under applicable law where a battery, electrical component, or related issue is itself defective or forms part of a defect that existed when the product was supplied.
7. Water Resistance
Water resistance varies by watch and must only be relied upon to the level specifically stated for the applicable model.
A depth marking or water-resistance rating does not necessarily mean that the watch is suitable for every activity involving water.
Water damage resulting from use beyond the watch's confirmed specifications, improper operation, failure to secure a screw-down crown, operation of controls underwater where not permitted, deterioration caused by misuse, or other use inconsistent with manufacturer instructions is not covered by this limited warranty.
Water resistance should not be assumed where no confirmed water-resistance rating is stated for the watch.
Water resistance may also decrease over time because of aging seals, gaskets, impact, servicing, or other factors.
For additional information, please review our Water Resistance Guide.
8. Third-Party Repairs, Servicing, and Modifications
Having a watch serviced, maintained, or repaired by a third party does not automatically void this limited warranty.
However, this warranty does not cover damage or a malfunction to the extent that it was caused or contributed to by improper repair, unauthorized modification, incorrect parts, negligent servicing, dismantling, or other third-party work.
If your watch develops a problem during the warranty period, we recommend contacting Stalder & Reid Client Services before authorizing repair work so that we can determine whether the reported issue may qualify for warranty service.
9. Manufacturer Warranty
Certain watches sold by Stalder & Reid are covered by an official manufacturer warranty instead of the Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty.
Where a manufacturer warranty applies, this will be identified on the applicable product page or in the warranty documentation supplied with the watch.
The applicable manufacturer's terms determine the warranty period, scope of coverage, exclusions, registration requirements, claim procedures, service requirements, and available remedies.
Where a product is expressly identified as being covered by a manufacturer warranty, warranty claims relating to that coverage are subject to the applicable manufacturer's warranty terms and procedures.
Unless expressly stated otherwise for the particular product, the Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty does not provide additional overlapping movement coverage for a watch identified as being covered by an official manufacturer warranty.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available to you under applicable federal or state law.
10. How to Make a Warranty Claim
If you believe your watch has developed a fault covered by the applicable warranty, contact:
Stalder & Reid Client Services
Email: clientservices@stalderandreidus.com
Please provide:
- Your order number or other reasonable proof of purchase;
- The name, model, or manufacturer reference number of the watch;
- A clear description of the reported problem;
- When you first noticed the issue;
- Photographs or video where reasonably relevant to the reported issue; and
- Any additional information reasonably necessary to evaluate the claim.
Please do not send your watch before contacting Client Services.
We will provide the applicable instructions and authorized service or return address if the watch needs to be inspected.
11. Proof of Purchase
A valid Stalder & Reid order number, invoice, receipt, or other reasonable proof of purchase will normally be required to process a warranty claim.
We recommend retaining your:
- Order confirmation or invoice;
- Stalder & Reid warranty card, where applicable;
- Certificate of Authenticity, where provided;
- Manufacturer warranty documentation, where applicable; and
- Other documentation supplied with the watch.
12. Sending Your Watch for Warranty Service
Where a watch needs to be returned for inspection, diagnosis, or warranty service, Stalder & Reid Client Services will provide the applicable shipping and delivery instructions before the watch is sent.
Do not send a watch to our public business address unless Client Services specifically instructs you in writing to use that address.
When you are responsible for arranging shipment, the watch should be securely packaged and sent using a trackable and appropriately insured shipping service.
Where Stalder & Reid provides a prepaid shipping label or otherwise agrees to arrange transportation, you must follow the shipping instructions provided with the claim.
If a claim is confirmed as covered and applicable law requires us to bear particular reasonable shipping or transportation costs, those requirements will be honored.
13. Warranty Assessment
Receiving a watch for assessment does not automatically mean that the reported issue is covered by the applicable warranty.
The watch may be inspected and tested to determine:
- The nature of the reported problem;
- Whether the issue involves the movement or another covered component;
- The likely cause of the fault;
- Whether the condition falls within the applicable warranty coverage;
- Whether an exclusion applies; and
- The appropriate repair or other remedy.
If we determine that the reported condition is not covered, we will notify you before performing any non-warranty work for which you would be charged.
We will not perform a customer-paid repair without obtaining any authorization required before charging you for that work.
14. Warranty Repair
For claims covered by the Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty, warranty service may include:
- Inspection and diagnosis;
- Movement testing;
- Timing or accuracy testing;
- Ordering necessary components;
- Repair or replacement of covered movement components;
- Movement replacement where appropriate;
- Functional testing following repair; and
- Final quality checks before return.
Where replacement components are required, appropriate parts will be used. Genuine manufacturer parts will be used where applicable, reasonably available, and appropriate for the repair.
Manufacturer warranty service is subject to the applicable manufacturer's own service procedures and requirements.
15. Replacement Watches and Components
If a watch or movement covered by the Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty cannot reasonably be repaired, we may provide a replacement where appropriate and permitted by applicable law.
A replacement may be the same model or, if the same model is no longer reasonably available, a comparable model of similar characteristics and value, subject to your applicable legal rights.
Manufacturer warranty replacements are governed by the applicable manufacturer's warranty terms.
Nothing in this section limits any remedy that applicable law requires us to provide.
16. Repair and Service Times
The time required to complete a warranty assessment or repair varies depending on factors including:
- The nature of the reported problem;
- Diagnosis and testing requirements;
- Availability of replacement components;
- The type of movement;
- The repair work required;
- Manufacturer service requirements, where applicable; and
- Transportation and service-provider timelines.
For these reasons, we do not promise a fixed warranty repair period.
We will use reasonable efforts to complete or facilitate warranty service within a reasonable period under the circumstances and will provide relevant updates where appropriate.
17. Problems Noticed Upon Delivery
Although watches are checked before shipment, please inspect your order promptly after delivery.
If you notice that a watch is damaged, defective, materially different from its description, or otherwise has a problem when received, contact Stalder & Reid Client Services as soon as reasonably possible.
Prompt reporting can help us investigate the issue and determine the appropriate resolution more efficiently.
There is no 24-hour or 48-hour reporting deadline that eliminates rights or remedies that you may have under applicable law.
Issues existing at delivery may also be covered by our Returns & Refunds Policy or other rights available under applicable law.
18. Watch Care
Proper use and care can help preserve the performance and condition of your watch.
Please review our Watch Care Guide and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for your particular model.
Manufacturer-specific instructions take priority over general care information where they differ.
19. Limitation of This Written Warranty
The Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty covers only the matters expressly described in this document.
It does not create coverage for excluded damage, ordinary maintenance, normal wear, cosmetic deterioration, consumable components, or other matters outside the scope of the Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty.
Manufacturer warranty coverage, where applicable, is determined separately under the applicable manufacturer's warranty terms.
Nothing in this limited warranty excludes or disclaims any implied warranty, statutory protection, product-liability obligation, or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or disclaimed.
20. Your Legal Rights
This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights.
You may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
Applicable state law may provide implied warranties or other rights concerning the condition, merchantability, fitness, conformity, or performance of consumer products.
Some states provide rights or remedies that cannot be excluded, limited, or modified by a written warranty.
Nothing in this Stalder & Reid Five-Year Limited Movement Warranty is intended to eliminate, restrict, or disclaim any right or remedy that applicable federal or state law does not permit us to eliminate, restrict, or disclaim.
21. Relationship to Other Stalder & Reid Policies
This warranty should be read together with our:
If this warranty provides more specific terms concerning Stalder & Reid warranty coverage, warranty claims, or warranty service, this warranty controls for those subjects, except where an applicable manufacturer warranty governs the particular product or applicable law requires otherwise.
